1 min readA Woman has been charged in Mbita for helping Standard Seven pupil procure abortion.
The woman identified as Esther Anyango Odundo was yesterday charged with abetting the killing of an eight-month-old foetus.
She appeared in a Mbita court to face charges of helping to terminate pregnancy of a Standard Seven girl.
The court heard that Odundo took the minor- Standard Seven pupil
to Mbita Sub-county Hospital to procure drugs for terminating her pregnancy.
She allegedly committed the offense on February 5 in Mbita township, Mbita sub-county.
In the second count, she was charged with failure to protect a child from physical abuse.
She denied the charges and was released on Sh200,000 bond.
Mbita Senior Resident Magistrate Nicodemus Moseti ordered that the girl be protected at a children’s home in Homa Bay County for one year.
The case will be mentioned on Tuesday, next week.
