Miguna Miguna apologizes to Gachagua over controversial claim
Lawyer Miguna Miguna has issued a public apology to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after sharing what he now acknowledges was a fabricated screenshot regarding an alleged political power-sharing arrangement.
In a statement on Tuesday, November 11, Miguna expressed regret for circulating what appeared to be false information about Gachagua's purported agreement with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 General Election.
"This is to sincerely apologize to Mr. Rigathi Gachagua for sharing what appears to be a fake screenshot of what he purportedly said about a 50/50 power-sharing arrangement with Kalonzo Musyoka,” Miguna wrote.
The lawyer, known for his uncompromising stance on political matters, emphasized his commitment to integrity and truthfulness in public discourse.
"As a man of integrity who is committed to the transformation of Kenya from a rotten society governed by lies, graft, thuggery, and ethnic chauvinism to a MERIT-BASED society, I don't subscribe to the politics of lies, distortion, and empty propaganda," Miguna declared.

While apologizing for his role in spreading the unverified information, Miguna also took the opportunity to criticize what he described as a coordinated effort to spread false narratives.
He specifically called out supporters of William Ruto, accusing them of manufacturing and disseminating misleading content.
"Whereas we strongly disagree with Rigathi’s DOCUMENTED politics of tribal jingoism, we abhor the manufacture and dissemination of false statements by tyrant William Ruto’s propaganda machine to sow unnecessary seeds of confusion and division," he stated.
The apology comes in response to reports that had been circulating on social media suggesting that Gachagua, who now leads the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), had made a strategic decision to step aside from pursuing the presidency in 2027.
The unsubstantiated claims alleged that Gachagua had entered into an agreement to support Kalonzo Musyoka's presidential ambitions in exchange for a substantial share of government positions.
Specifically, the reports suggested he had negotiated a deal to receive half of all government appointments should Musyoka successfully defeat President Ruto in the upcoming election.
