DCI to interrogate Geoffrey Mosiria over garbage dumping as Sakaja interdicts 2 senior Nairobi County officials.
Two senior Nairobi County officials have been interdicted following the illegal dumping of garbage near Stima Plaza.
Speaking before the Committee on Administration and Internal Security at County Hall on Monday, March 3, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja condemned the act, emphasizing that it goes against the county’s policies and values.
“Two officers have been interdicted over the illegal dumping of garbage because this is not what we stand for. On behalf of the staff, I apologize. That should not have happened,” he said.
On the other hand, Inspector General of the National Police Service, Douglas Kanja, confirmed that criminal investigations were launched immediately after the incident.
“I was in Nigeria at the time, but we initiated investigations immediately after the illegal dumping was reported,” Kanja said.
Amin announced that the DCI had extended an invitation to officials of the Nairobi County Government, among them Mosiria to appear before it to record statements.
”We shall expand the scope of our investigation and we are hoping to invite today Geoffrey Mosiria who is the Chief Officer for Environment, John Malawi (Director of Environment), Tiras Njoroge, Charles Kerich, Maurine Njeri and Nahashon Muguna,” Amin stated.

Other officials summoned by the DCI to appear before it include William Kangongo (Head of Enforcement), Eva Wariuki(Chief Officer of Security and Compliance), James Sankale(Head of Debt Collection Unit), John Antoiti(Revenue Collection Director), Steve Ogesa(Director Parking), and Fredrick Omolo(Starehe Rural Enforcement).
This comes barely a week after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen revealed that police arrested some officials from Nairobi County after garbage was dumped at the Stima Plaza gate.
Speaking at DCI Headquarters on Thursday, February 27, the CS stated that the arrests were made on the same day the garbage was dumped.
He added that some of the county trucks had also been impounded as investigations into the incident continue, reiterating that action would be taken against all those who were involved in the act.
