Africa deserved better than Raila - Djibouti official takes swipe at Ruto

Moussa Mohamed Omar, the Director of Communications at the Djibouti Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has criticized President William Ruto over his sentiments on Raila Odinga's loss at AUC

Moussa Mohamed Omar, the Director of Communications at the Djibouti Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has criticized President William Ruto over his sentiments on Raila Odinga’s loss at AUC.

In response to Ruto’s remarks regarding Africa missing out on being served by the finest candidate, Omar opined the continent deserved better than Raila.

In his statement on X dated Sunday, February 17, he expressed that the 33 African leaders made the right choice in choosing Djibouti’s Mahamoud Ali Youssouf as the AUC Chairperson.

“In response to President Ruto on Citizen TV Kenya: claiming Africa “lost an opportunity” is dishonest. 33 heads of state chose Mahmoud, the right choice for Africa’s challenges, refusing to let the AU be hostage to Kenyan domestic politics.

“Africa deserved better than Raila,” read the statement in part.
