All Kenyans want you out of office, not just Kikuyus – Gachagua to Ruto

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now claims that dissatisfaction with President William Ruto’s administration is widespread across the country, not limited to the Mt. Kenya region.

Gachagua dismissed the suggestions that only people from his political stronghold are unhappy with the government.

“It is not the Kikuyus who want him out of office, it is the entire people of Kenya,” he said during a press conference Wednesday.

“Kenyans are suffering equally across the country; that is why Kenyans are saying if you believe that it is the Kikuyus who want you out, then all Kenyans are Kikuyus.”

Gachagua also condemned what he described as the profiling of the Kikuyu community by the current administration, calling it divisive and unjust.

Addressing rumours of attempts to unseat the president through unconstitutional means, Gachagua firmly denied any such plans.

He stated that the narrative being circulated, to the effect that opposition leaders want to overthrow his administration, is untrue.

“There is no leader here planning a coup. So, relax and see us make you a one-term president in the elections in August 2027,” he said.

Speaking while inspecting the police affordable housing project in Kilimani on the same day, President Ruto warned opposition leaders against attempts to gain power through illegal means.

He instead told them to prepare their agenda and wait for 2027.

“Kama wako na mpango si tukutane 2027, watengeneze sera yao tukutane nao 2027, njia ya mkato hapa katikati hakuna…wasikie na wasikie vizuri, na waelewe,” he said.

He added: This country will not be destroyed by a few people who are impatient and who want to have a change of government using unconstitutional means.”

“It is not going to happen, and I want to tell them it is not going to happen.”

Ruto also urged the leaders to unite in addressing the problems facing the people, saying “tuwache ukabila, kiburi, chuki na madharau, sisi wote ni wakenya na hakuna mkenya bora kuliko mwenzake.”
