Kalonzo Musyoka explains he’s in government as an official opposition following NADCO report

On Wednesday, March 27, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka stated that he was now firmly entrenched in the government as the official opposition following the release of a report by the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO).

Speaking at a funeral in Makueni County’s Kaiti Constituency, Kalonzo said that prior to the NADCO discussions, there was no clear structure of who was the legitimate leader of the government.

In the NADCO report, President William Ruto was officially accepted by the opposition as the Head of State subsequently making Kalonzo part of the government by virtue of being the opposition leader.

“The fact that William Ruto is now properly in place as President, I want to announce to you guys that we are in properly in place as official opposition. Therefore we become the government,” he explained.

Kalonzo further added that the opposition now respected President Ruto after an earlier show of civil disobedience.

“The effect of NADCO report was to make William Ruto enjoy the rest of his term,” he remarked.

The former vice president revealed that before Kenya Kwanza and Azimio agreed to negotiate, Azimio Principals Raila Odinga and Martha Karua would not refer to Ruto as President.

Kalonzo added that his role in the opposition was to make sure that Kenya Kwanza did not win a second term in 2027.

“Brace yourself for a battle royale as I try to make William Ruto a one-term President for the sake of this country,” he stated.

He explained that in 2027, he was willing to go further in terms of political drive than he had ever tried before.

Kalonzo drew parallels from the just concluded Senegal elections, remarking that Kenya was ripe to have an opposition candidate oust the ruling party.

The Wiper Leader explained that he was the alternative candidate since most Kenyans were fed up with Ruto’s administration due to over-taxation.
