A girl aged 11 who had been reported missing was found murdered, and her body, which was stuffed in a sack, dumped in the Manyani area, Mjambere Location in Kisauni Sub-County, Mombasa County.
The motive of the murder was not immediately established.
Police said the body of the minor was discovered on Sunday morning after the public alerted officers from Mjambere Police Station about a suspicious sack lying in an open ground.
Police visited the scene and established that the body of an African female juvenile had been tied with ropes on the legs, hands and around the neck.
The victim’s eyes had also been covered with a piece of cloth before the body was wrapped in a blanket, placed inside a sack and dumped at the site.

The deceased was later identified as the one who had earlier reported a missing child at Junda Police Post at about 7 am on Sunday.
Police said the girl had gone missing from their home in Kagujo on Saturday at around 4 pm, before her body was discovered the following morning.
The body was moved to the Coast General Hospital mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination as detectives launched investigations into the murder.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public with information that could assist in the investigations to report to the nearest police station.
Coast police commander Ali Nuno said they were pursuing the motive and the possible killers.
