Boniface Mwangi faces arrest for failing to attend court in assault case.
A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest against activist Boniface Mwangi after he failed to appear for plea-taking in an assault case.
Mwangi was expected in court on Thursday to respond to charges related to an alleged assault incident but did not show up.
The prosecution informed the court of his absence, prompting the magistrate to issue the warrant.
According to a charge sheet, the activist is accused of willfully and unlawfully assaulting Osman Omar, a police officer who was executing his duties.
The police allege that he used abusive words towards Osman Omar with intent to provoke a breach of the peace.
