Athlete collapses and dies during morning run in Kapsabet
An upcoming international athlete collapsed and died on a Kapsabet street during a morning run training.
The athlete, Weldon Kerich Cheruiyot, 30, a marathoner, was amember of Jubilee Athletics Club in Kapsabet.
He was with a group of athletes when he suddenly fell down and collapsed outside the Kapsabet High Courts.
He was pronounced dead at the county referral hospital.
The deceased is the younger brother to the 2010 Boston marathoner Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot.
He hails from Longisa in Bomet.

His demise sent shockwaves across the athletics fraternity with the Jubilee camp captain Silas Too mourning his death.
His brother Cheruiyot confirmed that the deceased had been diagnosed with a heart condition five years ago and had been asked to retire from athletics.
“Due to economic conditions, he decided to relocate to Nandi to train, hence the tragedy,” Cheruiyot explained.
Nandi County Government, through the sports CECM Rose Angira, while relaying the condolence message, said the county government had offered to help move the body from Kapsabet to Longisa mortuary near his home.
