Azimio MP, Otiende Amollo confirms the secrete meeting between Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Tanzania President Samia Suluhu.

Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo, on Wednesday, July 26, shared more about the reported visit by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu to mediate between President William Ruto and opposition chief Raila Odinga. 

Speaking Speaking during an interview on Spice FM on Wednesday, Otiende Amollo confirmed that he was among a few people who accompanied Raila to meet Suluhu.

“I was with Raila when he was going to meet President Samia Suluhu,” Amollo added.

The ODM MP claimed that there were people from Azimio who did not want the meeting to take place.

However, Amollo declined to reveal the names of opposition politicians who did not support a possible truce mediated by the Tanzanian President. 

According to the MP, Raila went to the meeting despite opposition from some key figures in their coalition because he’s shown a willingness to engage and address key issues at the centre of the renewed push.

The revelations come a day after the former Prime Minister alleged that Suluhu flew to Kenya, where she stayed for two nights before returning home following a snub from the host president. 

“Samia Suliuhu came here two weeks ago at the invitation of President Ruto to mediate, but she was kept waiting not from our side, we were available, but the other side was not available,” he said during the interview with the International Press Association of East Africa.

“She spent two nights here and it was all in vain. Other people have tried but he’s the one who’s resisting. I am ready to sit with other people to discuss these issues.”

He did not reveal the location and what was discussed during the secret meeting.
