Azimio holds requiem mass for the victims of police brutality as it launches funds drive for the families.
Azimio has held a service to honor those who lost their lives during the anti-government protests.
The interdenominational prayers were attended by the Azimio leaders including; Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, and Kalonzo Musyoka among other leaders.
Speaking at the requiem mass, the leaders castigated some officials in the Kenya Kwanza government that have been reckless in their utterances in public.
Azimio in particular said that it was a mockery that Ruto was congratulating police officers while mothers were mourning the loss of their children.
According to Azimio, more than 50 people lost their lives during the protest, and several hundred others were injured.
After the interdenominational prayers, the leaders made contributions towards helping the victims and their families with Kenyatta and Odinga contributing Ksh.1 million each.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka contributed Ksh.500,000, Eugene Wamalawa Ksh.200,000 while Azimio MPs jointly contributed Ksh.1.5 million.
At the same time, the Governors of Kisii, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Machakos, and Siaya County announced a waiver of hospital bills for Maandamano victims.

The coalition also launched a mobile money platform and urged its supporters to contribute to the noble course.

Regarding the opposition’s Tumechoka.com initiative, Kalonzo announced that over 8.2 million Kenyans had appended their signatures to push for Ruto’s impeachment.
Meanwhile, Azimio La Umoja will give further directives on the protests on Sunday, July 30.
