Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has expressed confidence in winning the Nairobi governor’s seat in the general election of 2027.

Babu asserts that should the incumbent county executive decide to run again for the job, he has what it takes to defeat Governor Johnson Sakaja in the next elections.

The outspoken lawmaker asserted, that Governor Sakaja is only warming the seat for him in preparation for his ascent in the 2027 general elections.

“Look at the National Assembly now, look at Governors, look at Senators, look at Woman Reps and MCAs….is there anybody better than Babu Owino there? I’m not bragging, just tell me,” Babu said in a YouTube podcast show dubbed ‘Convo Unscripted.’

Asked by the podcast hosts whether he has any real chance of taking over the Nairobi Governor’s seat in 2027, he said: “Definitely. That I can tell you, 101%. He (Sakaja) is a placeholder…Sakaja has been put there to clean the way for me.”

The ODM lawmaker and Raila’s close ally claimed he had three key advantages over the incumbent that would make it easy for him to be elected City Hall boss.

“Let me ask you, if you’re a voter of Nairobi; you go to the ballot, what are the parameters to judge that I want to vote for Babu Owino or Sakaja? You’ll either say (you want) a leader who works, of course, Babu works way better.”

He added: “Secondly you’ll want to say the intelligence quotient, of which Babu is at optimum. Number three utasema streetsmart (which I am)…so ni nini yenye itafanya msipigie Babu?”
