Be cautious against Moses Kuria; Gachagua to Mt Kenya
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cautioned the people hailing from Mount Kenya to remain vigilant against what he claims are attempts to divide the region’s political unity ahead of the next general election.
Speaking during an interview in Boston, United States on Friday, Gachagua pointed to recent political activities and statements made by some leaders from the region, singling out Former Presidential advisor Moses Kuria as an example.
Gachagua urged Mt Kenya residents to carefully observe the political messaging that will come out from leaders like Kuria, alleging that such endorsements often align with broader strategies being driven from within the Kenya Kwanza administration.
According to him, Kuria’s public positions tend to reflect the thinking and interests of President William Ruto, rather than those of the Mt Kenya electorate.
“When you see a party or an individual like Moses Kuria praising certain ideas or directions, understand that it is aligned with what the President wants,” Gachagua stated.
“This is not accidental. There is a calculated political strategy to divide Mt Kenya votes into two blocs. Unfortunately, some of our own are being used to achieve this.”
Gachagua emphasised that his warning was not meant to incite division or hostility within the region, but to encourage unity and awareness.

He said Mt Kenya must not allow itself to be split by internal forces acting on behalf of external interests.
He also urged residents to stay focused on the bigger picture, the political and economic strength of the region, rather than being swayed by short-term political maneuvers.
“This is a time for our people to reflect, not to quarrel. Unity is strength, and that is what we must safeguard above all else,” Gachagua said.
His remarks come a week after Moses Kuria resigned as a senior economic adviser in the office of the President.
In a statement on X, Kuria said he had officially resigned from government, ending a nearly three-year stint in President William Ruto’s administration.
He confirmed that he had personally met with the President to communicate his decision, which the head of state “graciously accepted.”
