Bernardo Silva pushing to leave Manchester City against Guardiola’s wish
Bernardo Silva pushing to leave Manchester City before the end of this transfer summer against Pep Guardiola’s wish.
It’s no secret that Bernardo Silva has wanted out of Manchester City the past two summers. He unsuccessfully pursued a move to Barcelona in 2021 before Pep Guardiola persuaded him to stay.
The 27-year-old would not be sold in 2022 either, the Man City manager insisted in a public declaration, but Luis Miguelsanz of Sport believes he is still attempting to sign with the Catalans.
Silva was acquired by City for £43 million from AS Monaco in 2017, therefore they are unlikely to sell him this summer for less.
Barcelona may have difficulty paying for Silva’s transfer because the club cannot even register new recruits until the books are in order.
The intent of selling Frenkie De Jong is to raise the funds necessary to sign Silva, but Paris Saint-Germain could hijack the deal as they’ve expressed interest and could easily satisfy City’s requirements.
Just how open to joining PSG the Portuguese international will remain to be seen.
The Parisian’s attempts to sign Silva might be unsuccessful because Silva might only be interested in moving to Barcelona.
However, according to the most recent rumours, City may need to take the Catalans’ interest seriously.
