Bill Gates to set up his Foundation’s regional headquarters in Nairobi
Bill Gates is to set up his Foundation’s ( Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) regional headquarters in Nairobi.
On Wednesday, October 16, President William Ruto hosted American philanthropist Bill Gates at State House Nairobi, where they held talks on two areas of collaboration.
The President made it clear during the discussion that he wanted to work with the founder of Microsoft on the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program to provide accessible healthcare.
He continued by saying that he was eager to work with the billionaire to address the nation’s food security.
“We will continue to collaborate towards the realization of food security and universal health coverage in our country,” he stated.

In addition, Bill Gates announced during the meetings that his Foundation will establish a regional office in Nairobi to deal with issues related to health, agriculture, and ICT.
Ruto commended the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which is co-chaired by the Microsoft owner, for its support to Kenya in various areas such as healthcare and agriculture.
“We appreciate the support the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation continues to extend to Kenya in realizing our development goals, especially in the areas of healthcare, agriculture, and ICT sectors,” Ruto stated.
Bill Gates arrived in Kenya on Tuesday for a series of engagements and kicked off his visit in Makueni County where he met Governor Mutula Kilonzo.
He visited the Makueni where he met with medical staff and community health volunteers.
Gates is also expected on 17, November, to grace a University of Nairobi Town Hall meeting where he will talk on Innovating for Food Security and Climate Change in Africa.
