Grief in Kitui County after a Boda Boda Rider is found dead moments after complaining of too many problems.
The 27-year-old boda boda rider identified as Peter Kimuli reportedly burnt his clothes and those of his wife before taking his own life.
According to the area boda boda riders chairman Kyalo Kimanzi, the young man was dedicated to his duties.
Kimanzi explained that Peter was always quiet, and it would be difficult to know if he was having issues.
He revealed that Peter arrived at work as usual, but they did not talk as he looked stressed, adding that he asked his fellow boda boda riders what was happening.
“His name is Peter. Peter was a man of few words; he was a good worker. I don’t know what happened to him. I saw Peter in the morning, but I didn’t talk to him because I could see he was stressed. I asked why he was stressed like that; I just asked the youths there,” he said.

His mother said he had tried to harm himself barely two months ago but was stopped by friends and relatives.
Loss to Peter’s family Kimanzi further opened up that it was a huge loss to his young family, adding that he was married and had a young child.
“We have suffered a loss because Peter was a young man, he was married, and he was preparing to send his child to school, and that is a big loss,” he added.
His body was moved to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examination and burial.
Mutuku Kilonzo, a fellow bodaboda rider, added that many people are going through various issues, and if one fails to get someone to speak to, it’s difficult to know.
