Body of missing man recovered from deep pit in Kisii
Authorities in Kisii County have recovered the body of a missing man from a deep pit.
The body was found behind Moire Sunrise Academy within Nyanturago Market, marking a tragic development in a case that has puzzled residents for weeks.
Police swiftly responded to the scene, where they discovered a body inside the 25-meter-deep pit.
Officers from Ibeno Police Station arrived at the scene and the deceased was identified as James Iteba Nyangari, aged 69.

Family members confirmed his identity after the body was found. He had been reported missing from his home on March 17, 2026, around 6 pm.
The body has been moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) for preservation and an autopsy, which is expected to determine the cause of death.
Kisii County Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
