Bumula MP’s wife in court over Sh1.9 million fraud

The wife of Bumula MP Jack Wamboka was accused of fraud on Friday in a Kiambu court
The wife of Bumula MP Jack Wamboka was accused of fraud on Friday in a Kiambu court.
She refuted receiving more than Sh1.9 million in an alleged fraud involving nurse training.
Christine Nyambura Muturi made an appearance before Meresia Opondo, the senior principal magistrate of Kiambu.
Nyambura was ordered to stay in detention following her denial of eight counts of offering nursing certificate programs at an unapproved institution and fraudulently acquiring the money.
“The court hereby directs the suspect to remain in custody until tomorrow when the court will rule on the bail application,” Opondo ruled.
Nyambura was charged in the charge sheet with taking Sh1,959,000 from seven people by coercing them into paying Westwick Institute Limited’s certified nursing assistant course fees.

Nyambura denied taking Sh428,500 from Sally Wanjiru between January 20, 2023, and July 28, 2023, claiming that she tricked her into enrolling in a certified nursing assistant course at Westwick Institute Limited, which is not TVET-accredited, in exchange for training and a certificate.
She was also charged with taking different sums of money from six other gullible Kenyans.
On Tuesday, May 7, she is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing.
She is being treated at the Nairobi hospital right now.
