Mystery is surrounding the missing of a businesswoman who imported oil from Turkey after being grilled by DCI.

The family of a businesswoman is in distress after she went missing shortly after leaving the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Thursday.

Ann Njoroge is said to be the importer behind the Sh 17 billion consignment of diesel.

According to her lawyer Cliff Ombeta, the businesswoman was asked by Energy CS Davis Chirchir to show up at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) where she was interrogated on her sources of wealth.

She would not be traced again after her date with the investigators.

According to reports, the detectives were seeking to determine how she was able to import such a huge amount of oil.

“Mr. Energy CS Chirchir told her that she needed to report to DCI headquarters in Nairobi. She met the DCI boss Mr Amin who directed her to the investgators. When she left, she was blocked, and since then, we have not seen her,” said Ombeta.

At the centre of the businesswoman’s missing is the fight for ownership of the consignment.

Two marketing companies Galana Energies Limited and Ramco claimed to own the 100,000 metric tons of the said diesel.

According to Ombeta, officers claimed that they did not know the whereabouts of the lady.

The lawyer questioned how that was possible considering that she presented herself at DCI headquarters.

According to DCI detectives, the businesswoman left after recording her statement with the detectives.

Ombeta revealed that her phone had been switched off and a search party for her had not yielded any fruits.

The attorney revealed that the ship ferrying the consignment had been blocked from leaving the dock and the diesel being offloaded until the ownership dispute was heard and determined.

The said businesswoman has been an industry player for over 33 years.
