Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri was involved in a road accident on Thursday morning along the Nanyuki–Meru highway while travelling to attend President William Ruto’s NYOTA programme at Kinoru Stadium.

Preliminary reports indicate the MP is safe and in stable condition, with no life-threatening injuries, and able to continue his scheduled duties.

According to reports, the accident occurred near Siraji, Timau, involving another vehicle carrying Catholic sisters. All occupants of both vehicles are reported unharmed.

Emergency responders and security personnel were deployed promptly to manage the situation and ensure the safety of everyone involved.

Mugambi confirmed the incident on social media, thanking Kenyans and his constituents for their concern and prayers.

“My team and I appreciate the concern shown following a road incident. We are all safe and doing well. Thank you to my constituents and fellow Kenyans for the prayers and goodwill,” he said.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, with authorities yet to release full details of the collision, even as the legislator’s vehicle and the other vehicle sustained minor damage.

Despite the incident, speakers at the NYOTA exercise, including President Ruto, made no mention of what happened to the MP while en route to the event.

The Jubilee MP represents Buuri Constituency in Meru County and has been in Parliament since 2017. He has built a career spanning both public service and the private sector.

Before entering politics, Rindikiri held senior positions in the insurance industry. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Planning Officer at Kenya Post and Telecommunications Corporation from 1984 to 1991, gaining experience in administrative planning and operations.

Meanwhile, the incident involving Rindikiri echoes a similar case in 2024, when Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi was involved in a road accident in Chuka, Meru County.

The accident occurred around noon in the Kirubia area after the vehicle ferrying the legislator veered off the road and rolled onto its side.

Fortunately, all occupants, including the MP, escaped without injuries.
