‘Call Ruto and your problems will go away’ – Raphael Tuju told

Political Analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has urged embattled former cabinet secretary Raphael Tuju to seek President William Ruto’s help instead of seeking support of opposition leaders.

In a statement on March 25, 2026, the political analyst advised Tuju to call President Ruto because the Head of State had expressed interest in having a good working relationship with him.

According to Ngunyi, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka may not offer the necessary help that Tuju needs at the moment.

“Dear Tuju: Ruto has asked you to become his real friend. And all your problems will go away. Just do it. Call him. You have his number,” Ngunyi noted in a statement shared on his X account.

Additionally, the political analyst emphasized the need for Tuju to fight on the right side of history.

“The bank that auctioned you is allegedly owned by Kikuyus in part. Fight on the right side of history. Kalonzo will not help you,” Ngunyi noted.

His remarks emerged a day after Tuju obtained anticipatory bail, to serve as protection against an imminent arrest and detention by state agencies.

The High Court admitted Tuju and his co-applicant, Louiza Korros, to an anticipatory bond of Sh200,000 each, with one surety or an alternative cash bail of a similar amount.

The judge also directed that the application be served on the respondents, including the National Police Service Inspector General, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), ahead of a mention scheduled for April 7, 2026.

Tuju, through an urgent application filed at the High Court, accused the three state agencies of orchestrating attempts to arbitrarily arrest and detain him without formally charging him in court.

The former CS is currently admitted at Karen Hospital, where he remains under police guard.

Initially, Tuju voluntarily presented himself at Karen Police Station on March 23 to record a statement.

Prior to his appearance at the police station, Tuju had reported being trailed by suspicious unmarked vehicles, prompting him to abandon his vehicle temporarily and seek refuge at an undisclosed location over fears for his safety.
