Chebukati’s wife asks for prayers ahead of the elections, “pray for my husband”
Chebukati’s wife asks for prayers ahead of the elections revealing that their children were affected by the 2017 General Election.
Mary Chebukati, the IEBC chairman, Wafula Chebukati’s wife has said that their family bears the brunt of his husband’s absence following his high-demanding position at the electoral body.
Speaking during her mother’s burial on Saturday, July 16, Mary Chebukati noted that his family sees him on TV more than they interact with him.
She went on to say that her husband placed greater importance on abiding by the law and urged Kenyans to pray for him as election day approaches.
“I ask that you pray for us as a family especially now that we are in the election season because I know my husband just wants to follow the law.
“We see him on TV more than we see him at home because of his job. Even now, I thank him for setting aside his national duties to come and mourn with us,” she noted.
Mary revealed that their three children were affected by the 2017 General Election but have grown stronger since then.
“Our children were deeply affected by the last elections exercise but now they are strong, so is Chebukati. We always pray for God’s wisdom to guide him as he serves the nation,” she added.
This comes amid political games between the Azimio team and Kenya Kwanza over alleged plans to rig election results.
Chebukati has, however, maintained that the election will be free and that IEBC is managed as an independent entity.
