Chelsea lack of transfer activity should worry fans after the latest development

Chelsea lack of transfer activity should worry fans after the latest development following Todd Boehly’s interview.

Todd Boehly completed the Chelsea takeover last month and fans have since been anxiously waiting for the club to make moves in the transfer market.

Despite being linked to a number of transfer targets such as Jules Kounde, Ousmane Dembele, Raheem Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus, none of the deals nearing completion.

Their premier league rivals have already completed exciting deals with Arsenal about to sign Porto’s Fabio Vieira, Liverpool have signed Darwin Nunez, and Man City have got Erling Haaland.

Chelsea fans have expressed their concerns over the club’s lack of transfer activity thus far, especially when their rivals have been bolstering their squads, as a result of the club’s lethargic pace in the transfer market.

But the latest comments by the new owner Toddy Boehly could provide some answers for the Chelsea fans.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Boehly spoke about building the Chelsea squad and increasing revenue.

He even spoke about Financial Fair Play (FFP) in European football.

“FFP is starting to get some teeth and that will limit the ability to acquire players at any price. UEFA takes it seriously and will continue to take it seriously. (More teeth) means financial penalties and disqualifications from sporting competitions,” Toddy said.

His comments could have been a warning to Chelsea fans that they will not be spending enormous sums of money to sign players this summer.

Toddy also praised Liverpool’s model of operation terming it “a great model.

“If you look at the models that are successful, Liverpool is a great model. Liverpool generates a couple of hundred million more revenue than Chelsea and they generate earnings, so I think there is an opportunity to compete.”

Considering how their opponents are signing players in this transfer market, Chelsea fans are increasingly becoming relentless, Boehly could have come out to say to them “lower your expectations”.
