Chief Justice Martha Koome has made significant changes in the Judiciary after transferring 29 Court of Appeal Judges from various stations across the country.

In a letter to the President of the Court of Appeal Daniel Musinga, the CJ Koome advised him to implement the changes as agreed in their consultation.

The 29 judges are expected to report to their new workstations on Friday, September 15, according to Chief Justice Koome.

“Following consultations with the Judge President of the Court and in order to enhance service delivery at the Court of Appeal, it has become necessary to re-organize the Court as per the schedule of benches below,” Koome noted.

“However, this schedule should be regarded as a guide as nothing stops the President from constituting different benches or swapping them as the exigencies of work will demand from time to time.”

Justice Jesse Lessit, who was working in Mombasa has been moved to the Nairobi Court of Appeal.

Other notable figures who have been redeployed include Justices Patrick Kiage and Francis Tuiyott who have been moved from Kisumu to Nairobi Court of Appeal.

The advisory by CJ Koome will see the Nairobi Court of Appeal bench composed of Justice Daniel Musinga, who is the President of the Court, Justice Asike Makhandia, Justice Kathurima Inoti, and Justice Mumbi Ngugi.
