Class 6 pupil stabs, injures teacher after an altercation for failing to attend classes since schools re-opened.

Boaz Cherutich, a county commissioner for Garissa, issued a warning to students not to assault teachers in the classroom, warning them that anyone found guilty will face the full force of the law.

He also urged parents and teachers to work together to reduce incidents of school misconduct.

He made these remarks after a teacher suffered serious injuries during an altercation with class 6 pupil.

“Juzi tumekuwa na kisa Garissa town ambapo mwalimu mmoja mwanamke alikuwa darasani, alipigwa na mwanafunzi wa class 6,” Boaz said. 

“Si hiyo ni aibu kubwa sana? Na tulishika wazazi tukaweka ndani ili tukueleze sheria lazima ifanye kazi,” 

According to reports, the student attacked his teacher after he was asked why he had yet to attend classes since schools re-opened. 

After a fight, the student allegedly fled the school, only to return moments later brandishing a knife and stabbing the teacher in the ear.
