A 41-year-old woman and her 52-year-old husband have been arrested in Mombasa for allegedly exploiting their children in an online sex ring.

According to a statement shared by the DCI on Monday, July 14, officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit (AHTCPU) apprehended the couple after acting on intelligence leads.

After thorough investigations, the officers uncovered that the woman reportedly shared sexually explicit content involving her children aged 13, 7, and 4 through an online dating site.

The investigations also revealed that the mother of two girls and one boy sold the content she generated to interested clients in exchange for money.

Disturbingly, the officers discovered the 52-year-old father had been repeatedly defiling their 13-year-old daughter since she was just 11.

“Thanks to forensic leads, the suspects were swiftly trailed and apprehended,” the DCI statement reads in part.

The couple has since been arraigned in Mombasa, where the mother was granted a bond of Ksh1 million, with two sureties of the same amount.

Meanwhile, the father remains in custody at Shazu Prisons, awaiting a bond ruling scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

In a similar case in Mombasa, AHTCPU detectives in May arrested two men for defiling a 12-year-old girl, after posing as good Samaritans.

The first man, as stated by DCI, gave the girl a ride in his car before subjecting her to unspeakable acts and running into hiding.

The girl, devastated, came across man number two, who, instead of helping her, took advantage of her helplessness and indecently assaulted her before escorting her to the police station.

Bravely, the girl disclosed both incidents, which led to the second man’s arrest and arraignment, while a manhunt was launched to trail the first suspect.

The inhuman cases of sex syndicates involving children have been rampant in the coastal region, where police in 2024 identified over 100 locations suspected of recruiting children to stream sexual content for local and internal audiences.
