High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi extends orders blocking CJ Koome, Supreme Court Judges ouster bid.
High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi has extended orders barring the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) from hearing cases filed against Chief Justice Martha Koome.
The orders also apply to Supreme Court judges Isaac Lenaola, Smokin Wanjala, William Ouko, and Njoki Ndung’u.
Justice Mugambi has instructed all parties to file their responses to an application seeking the formation of a bench to hear the cases.
This move has drawn criticism from prominent lawyers Nelson Havi and Ahmednasir Abdullahi, who questioned why the application for empanelment must be addressed first, considering the Chief Justice is a party to the proceedings.
Lawyer Ochieng Oduol intervened, urging his colleagues to maintain decorum and show respect for the court.

The court acknowledged that it cannot overlook the applications before it.
In response, Nelson Havi announced plans to appeal the court’s directions, arguing that the Chief Justice cannot appoint judges to hear a matter in which she is directly involved.
He has already filed a preliminary objection, asserting that the High Court lacks jurisdiction over cases involving judges and that the JSC should be allowed to proceed with the hearings.
Citing internet connectivity challenges, the court directed that the matter be heard in open court.
Additional applications have been filed, including one seeking joinder and another requesting the examination of Justice Lenaola.
The case is scheduled for mention on the 28th of this month.
Earlier, lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi pleaded with the court to expedite the hearing of the matter.
