Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen called Tana River governor Dhadho Godana out for constantly whining and blaming the national government for the inefficiencies in the county.
Godhana had called out the national government for neglecting Tana River while prioritising other areas in development and government appointments.
The governor was among the dignitaries attending the homecoming of Yuda Komora in Garsen on Saturday, October 11.
Komora was appointed the chairperson of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).
At his opportunity to speak, Godana addressed lamentations to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who was also present at the fete.
He lamented that Tana River had been marginalised, with its natives being forgotten in government appointments.
Godhana sent Mudavadi to Ruto to counsel him on how the weird perspective the national government has about Tana River is changed.
Murkomen, who was also at the event, spared a chunk of his time to address the governor.
He criticised the county boss for often complaining yet he can’t enumerate what he done to the Tana River people.
A visibly frustrated Murkomen asked the governor to be proactive like his colleagues and initiate development for his people.
“Mr governor, I don’t want to be lecturing you every time I am in your county. Every time national leaders, even the president, are here, you complain about what has not been done. You forget you are the governor. What have you done yourself? We have a broad-based government.
“Your party leader, Raila Odinga, sits with President William Ruto to plan development. It is because of Raila and Ruto’s partnership that development is happening in other counties. Governors like Gladys Wanga, Abdulswamad Nassir, and others are leveraging the partnership to seek development for their people, but for you, it is all about whining,” Murkomen hit out at the governor.

The CS further faulted the governor for apparently disrespecting Mudavadi by lecturing him directly on the challenges in Tana River.
Murkomen told off the governor, asking him to organise his event where he can whine all he wants.
He told him he is a contributor to the challenges faced by his county.
“Let me tell you, Governor, the reason why some areas of Kenya are underdeveloped is because of leadership. You have disrespected the Prime CS. Tell me what he will think about your leadership. Let us respect each other. You can’t shame a whole CS, and hijack a good event with politics of whining, please organise your meeting and talk all you want,” Murkomen added.
Murkomen counselled the governor to humble himself and cooperate with other leaders for the progress of his county.
Tana River is regarded of the marginalised counties in Kenya.
The Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) initially listed the county among 14 marginalised regions.
In its intervention, the CRA identified specific localities in the county, 65 of them, which need priority for support through the Equalization Fund.
The Equalisation Fund is to help enhance access to essential services such as clean water, healthcare, roads, and electricity.
