Environment CS Soipan Tuya sues husband seeking child custody and monthly upkeep of Sh425,000.

Environment CS Soipan Tuya has moved to court seeking custody of two children she sired with her estranged husband.

In court papers, the CS is seeking Sh425,000 from the estranged husband Stephen Ole Kudate as monthly upkeep for the children.

Kudate is a former Majority leader of the Narok County Assembly. He unsuccessfully vied for the Narok South MP seat in the 2022 elections.

Tuya claims her estranged husband Stephen Kudate treats their children and her domestic workers with cruelty.

In her court papers, the CS claims they have been psychologically, emotionally, and verbally abused by Kudate and that’s why she wants full custody of the minors.

“Owing to his abusive and erratic nature, we have been living in mortal fear for our lives,” she said.

She is seeking an order compelling the husband to pay Sh225,000 50 percent of the children’s Sh450,000 school fees.

Tuya is also seeking an order to compel her estranged husband to pay Sh100,000 which is 50 percent of the Sh200,000 children’s monthly entertainment needs.

She further wants the estranged husband to be compelled to pay Sh100,000 which is 50 percent of Sh200,000 for the two children’s maintenance.

According to the court documents, the two lived together from December 2, 2013. They were in a relationship up until December 2020.

The husband moved out of the CS’s house to go and live with his other wife.

In what is emerging as a troubled marriage, Soipan further wants the court to stop Kudate from insulting and issuing threats against her of whatever nature.

The Environment CS has asked the court to block Kudate from interfering with her place of work, going near her and even making phone calls to her as well as interfering with her life.

“That the Honourable Court be pleased to issue a permanent injunction restraining the defendant by himself, servants, agents and representatives from accessing, entering or in another manner interfering with the plaintiff and her children’s peaceful enjoyment of plaintiff’s properties,” CS Soipan stated in the affidavit.

The properties she wants the estranged husband blocked from include residential houses in Kileleshwa Estate, Karen Estate in Nairobi and Naroosoru in Narok South.
