13-year-old to death by bandits as Interior CS Kindiki holds security meeting in Baringo County.
One person was on Tuesday shot dead in Baringo North after armed bandits raided Ng’aratuko village making away with an unknown number of livestock.
The deceased, Sylus Chelimo, was looking after his cattle near a local school when he was shot.
He was rushed to Baringo County Referral Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
The bandits also shot at candidates sitting for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams at Ng’aratuko Primary School.
The teachers were in the process of collecting the exams when gunshots were heard forcing the candidates to scamper for safety.
This happened despite deployement of extra security personnel to the area to beef up security.

The afternoon incident happened as Interior CS Kithure Kindiki was having a security meeting at Loruk area with Rift Valley Commissioner and the Baringo security team which is barely 20 kilometres from where the attack took place.
The CS was holding the meeting with security chiefs following a spate of bandit renewed attacks in the region.
The attack comes days after cattle rustlers attacked a General Service Unit (GSU) camp and Kapindasum Primary School in Baringo.
The incident forced the teachers and students to take cover under their desks until security officers arrived and quelled the situation.
