Darwin Nunez wants the Liverpool deal completed by end of the week
Darwin Nunez, the Benfica forward wants the Liverpool deal completed as soon as possible.
Liverpool agreed to an £86 million fee with Benfica meeting their most valuable asset’s asking price.
Liverpool is reportedly willing to pay £68.5 million up front, with a further £17.1 million in add-ons over the course of his deal.
Despite reports linking Darwin Nunez to Manchester United, it does not appear that newly-appointed CEO Erik ten Hag has met with super-agent Jorge Mendes to discuss a possible transaction.
According to Sport Witness, no such exchange has occurred, despite a source telling the outlet that “negotiations with Liverpool are well underway.”
Soon after the end of the season, it was claimed that Nunez may be prepared to sign for Manchester United, despite a lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford for 2022-23.
However, in recent days, Liverpool have emerged as the clear favourites to sign the 22-year-old as they consider potential replacements for Sadio Mane.
According to Football Insider, Nunez wants a deal completed over the coming days, preferably by the end of the week.
A source is said to have told the outlet that the attacker wants to be confirmed as a Liverpool player “as soon as possible”, a stance which will only encourage the Merseyside giants to press on with negotiations.
If an agreement is completed, Liverpool are thought to be significantly more prepared to work out a deal for Mane to leave the club after a highly successful six-year stay.
Liverpool is also seeking offers for Takumi Minamino, with the Japanese playmaker’s transfer possibly worth up to £17 million.
