DCI announces changes in the application for Police Clearance Certificates dropping the appointment requirement

DCI announces changes in the application for Police Clearance Certificates dropping the appointment requirement.

Kenyans applying for certificates of good conduct, also known as police clearance certificates, would no longer need to schedule a fingerprinting appointment.

According to a Tuesday announcement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), prospective applicants will now only need to appear for fingerprints on a date that works with their schedules.

Job seekers and other Kenyans applying for the certificate were previously required to connect to their Ecitizen accounts, complete the forms, and schedule a fingerprinting appointment.

“Kindly note that you are no longer required to book a fingerprinting date while applying for the Police Clearance Certificate (formally Good Conduct). This section has been removed from the portal. Applicants are encouraged to visit their convenient centre to be served,” the office of the DCI stated.

DCI announced that applicants can access the service at Hudumu Centres across the country.

Additionally, DCI has advised applicants to download and keep printed copies to avoid future inconveniences.

“Once generated, your certificate remains on your e-citizen account for a period of 6 months after which it is pulled down,” DCI stated.
