In a statement, the ODPP directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to commence immediate investigations against the preacher over allegations of fanning ethnic discord.

This is after two clips came to the attention of the agency; the ODPP implied that the characters in the videos incited ethnic contempt, hatred, hostility, violence or discrimination among Kenyans.

In one of the videos, a preacher is heard speaking against the Somalis perceived to have taken over businesses in the Nairobi city centre.

The pastor is heard alleging that the Somalis currently in the country doctored their documents to be identified as Kenyans.

He concluded that if the Kenyan youths would not be alert, the foreigners would take over.

In the second clip, the main character is heard saying, “I will make myself part of the people who have started the struggle for the liberation of the Kikuyu. I will tell these people that our enemy is not Ruto, our enemy is the Somalis…” the preacher could be heard saying.

“While Kikuyus are fighting Luos, Woriahs are taking over Kenya,” the pastor added.

In light of the pronouncements, the ODPP directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take action in conjunction with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

It sanctioned the two agencies to expeditiously carry out investigations and forward the resultant investigation inquiry files for advice and further action.
