DCP Party announces changes to its top leadership and head office location

The former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has announced changes to some of its top leadership positions and head office location through a gazette notice dated May 30, 2025.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 20 (1) (c) and (e) of the Political Parties Act, Cap. 7D, the Registrar of Political Parties gives notice that Democracy For The Citizens Party intends to change its party official,” the notice by the Registrar of Political Parties, Ann Nderitu, read.

DCP has appointed David Mingati Parseina as the National Chairperson, taking over from Thomas Ratemo.

According to the notice, Hezron Obanga will also step in as the new party secretary general, a position that Mably Owino held.

Furthermore, the position of Deputy Secretary General for Operations, which was previously held by Hussein Athman, has been filled by Martin Ole Kamwalo.

The party has further dismissed Laura Njeri as the National Treasurer and has appointed Annah Kavuu Mutua as the new head of the position.

Everngeline Wanjira Njoka will serve as the new Deputy Treasurer-Operations, a position that was previously held by Abdifatah Abdullahi.

DCP has further appointed the former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Mithika Linturi, as the new National Organising Secretary, a position that was previously held by Joy Gatugi.

Abubakar Abdi Ogle has been appointed by the party as the Deputy Organising Secretary – Operations, taking over from Jeremiah Mong’eri.

Gachagua’s party has further dismissed Miriam Fredina Mariki as the National Women’s Caucus Chairperson and has appointed Catherine Wanjiku Waruguru to the position.

DCP has further appointed Serah Wanjiku Thiga as the new Chairperson of the National Youth Caucus, succeeding Joel Sang.

Nderitu has further confirmed that the party has changed the physical location of its headquarters from the Riara Centre at Riara Road to DCP Headquarters, Musa Gitau Road, off Waiyaki Way.

“Any person with written submissions concerning the intended changes by the political party shall, within seven (7) days from the date of this publication, make their written submissions to the Registrar of Political Parties,” the notice stated.

The former DP officially launched the DCP party alongside his political allies on Thursday, May 15.

The party’s symbols include a neon green and white emblem with an engraving of ‘Skiza Wakenya’ and a logo depicting fingers holding on to an ear.
