President William Ruto on Monday met with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director William Burn at State House Nairobi.

In a statement via X after the meeting, President Ruto said the region’s leadership will remain vigilant against destabilizing crimes and safeguard the gains of peace, stability, democracy, and economic growth.

“Peace and security in our region has significantly been boosted by the close collaboration between us and our partners around the world. As a result, we have substantially rolled back the threat of terrorism, radicalization, violent extremism, and organized crime.

“The leadership in the region will continue to remain vigilant against these destabilizing crimes and safeguard the gains of peace, stability, democracy, and economic growth. Met Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William J Burns, State House Nairobi,” Ruto stated.

During the meeting, Ruto and Burn were joined by National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director General Nordin Haji.

CIA is an intelligence service of the federal government of the United States tasked with gathering, processing, and analyzing national security information from around the world, primarily through the use of human intelligence and conducting covert action through its Directorate of Operations.

They also collect foreign intelligence and produce objective analysis as directed by the US president.

The meeting between President Ruto and the CIA Director comes days after the Head of State met UK Foreign Intelligence agency M16 Chief of Service Richard Moore and other envoys at State House Nairobi.

In a statement, Ruto said that Kenya and the United Kingdom have a strong relationship ranging from diplomatic, investment, and business to defense and security.

“Our two countries also share common values of democracy, the rule of law, and peaceful resolution of conflicts,” the President stated.
