Diplomatic vehicle impounded by NTSA officials

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officials impound a diplomatic Toyota Land Cruiser TX vehicle operating with expired insurance

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officials impound a diplomatic Toyota Land Cruiser TX vehicle operating with expired insurance.

In an update via X on Monday, April 1, NTSA said the driver of the diplomatic vehicle was also found with an expired driving license.

“A diplomatic vehicle found operating with an expired insurance. Additionally, the driver has an expired DL,” NTSA stated.

The authority is currently undertaking road safety compliance checks on all vehicles across the country following a surge in road accidents.

Earlier, NTSA impounded a 14-seater Public Service Vehicle (PSV) matatu found operating with a host of violations.

In a statement, NTSA said the offside door of the PSV was not permanently locking exposing passengers to danger.

The driver of the matatu had an expired driving license and had no PSV badge. The conductor also had no badge.

On Sunday, NTSA cautioned motorists against using strobe lights making it clear that they will be apprehended.

“In the implementation of the directive on the Ban on the use of strobe lights, light bars, sirens, etc., several vehicles were nabbed at various checkpoints. To avoid any inconveniences, all motor vehicle owners are advised to remove modified or unauthorized lights on their vehicles,” NTSA stated.
