DP Gachagua lied to the world during the UN Food Systems Summit that Kenya has a successful school feeding programme according to MP Mule
DP Gachagua lied to the world during the UN Food Systems Summit that Kenya has a successful school feeding programme according to MP Mule.
Matungulu Member of Parliament Stephen Mule has criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for boasting about Kenya’s successful school feeding program to foreign dignitaries.
Mule argues that Gachagua’s declaration made at the UN Food Systems Summit last week in Italy was false and incorrect.
“Hon. Gachagua, stop lying. We heard you the other day in Italy lying to the world that Kenya has the best school feeding programme. Are children being fed by the government? Government must end its lies, Kenyans want good leadership,” Mule said during a church service in his constituency on Sunday.
He added that Kenyan schools could miss an opportunity to receive aid as a result of the misleading remarks by Gachagua.
“It is wrong to lie to the world, you are doing a disservice to us, to organizations which need to help schools in Kenya must end saying that Kenya has the best school feeding,” he said.
During the UN Summit, Gachagua told world leaders that Kenya has a strategy to engineer food systems through financing its production.
DP Gachagua had informed world leaders at the UN Summit that Kenya has a plan to build food systems by subsidizing its production.

He said that the government is giving farmers credit through the Hustler Fund to enable them to buy farm input, hence improving food production.
He added that school feeding programs had been successful.
“In Kenya, we have succeeded in having a very good and effective school feeding programme that has doubled school enrolment. When children have been fed, parents are able to proceed with their daily hustles unhindered,” Gachagua told the Summit.
However, the school feeding programmes are currently being implemented in Nairobi and Murang’a counties but are still in the initial stages.
