Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has appealed to Kenyans to donate relief food to feed Kenyans in drought-stricken areas.
DP Gachagua announced that President William Ruto will join well-wishers in statewide humanitarian food distribution in early November 2022 while speaking on Thursday, November 3 at Mkomani Showground in Mombasa.
“We appeal to Kenyans to give food so they can be given to those in need. Many Kenyans are suffering, and we are making this appeal to help them.
While attending the Agricultural Society of Kenya Mombasa International Show, the DP pleaded that “no Kenyan should die from hunger when other Kenyans have sufficient food.
The protracted drought is currently affecting over 4.1 million Kenyans in 23 counties in Arid and Semi-arid Lands (ASAL).
Recently, the Red Cross provided assistance through a number of programs, including the livestock offtake program to help farmers.
President Ruto pledged to assist with the relief organization to make sure that all counties, especially in marginalized regions, get relief food when he introduced as the society’s patron at the State House on Tuesday, November 1.
Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and Kenya Manufacturers Association (KAM) also pledged to contribute Ksh340 million to help with the initiative.
How to Donate
Donations can be made to support humanitarian work through fund transfers via the Kenya Red Cross Society Website or by visiting a branch near you.
Kenyans can also channel cash transfers through the two major cash transfer companies PAYBILL:10000 ACCOUNT NAME: DROUGHT.
