Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua lectured politicians from Kiambu County for throwing jabs at each other in public

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua lectured politicians from Kiambu County for throwing jabs at each other in public.

Speaking on Wednesday, February 14 during the laying of the foundation stone at Soko Mjinga market in Lari, Kimabu, the Deputy President said he will not allow leaders from the region to confront each other.

DP Gachagua noted it was embarrassing for elected leaders to attack each other in the presence of President William Ruto.

“This behavior of making noise in front of the king is not the behavior of the people of Mt Kenya. That behavior belongs to ODM. As your leader I don’t want to see this again,” said Gachagua.

The DP urged Kiambu leaders to respect each other and to refrain from going after each other.

“Ruto is our king; he has come to bring us development, and you bring shame in front of the President of Kenya in an area where we are people of honor. I want to tell the governor and MPs from today, we cannot accept such behaviour. If you don’t like what the governor is saying, keep quiet; if you don’t want the MP, stay silent,” Gachagua added.

DP Gachagua issued the warning after Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a announced she would run for the Kiambu County Gubernatorial seat in the 2027 general election.

The UDA MP was forced to cut her speech after a section of the crowd booed her over the remarks.

“I will be the one opposing Governor Wamatangi here in Kiambu County. I will be the governor of Kiambu County in 2027,” said Ng’ang’a.

President Ruto cautioned the UDA lawmakers from Kiambu against starting early 2027 campaigns.

He mentioned that he would call for a meeting with the Kiambu leaders and sort out the issues between them.

“Let politics take a back seat for now and we plan how Kenya will move forward. I will meet all these leaders, sit them down, and put an end to these politics of bickering,” said Ruto.
