Moses Kuria reveals that 80% of the staff at the office of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have been sent on compulsory leave.
President William Ruto’s Senior Advisor Council of Economic Advisors Moses Kuria has revealed that 80% of the staff in deposed deputy president Rigathi Gachagua’s office have been sent home.
Kuria suggested that the staff, having come from one part of the country, be sent on compulsory leave.
He claimed they were natives of the Mathira constituency, implying nepotism in the ODP.
The affected staff are Wanjiku Wakogi (Chief of Staff), Ibrahim Rashid Ahmed (advisor), Jane Wangui Kiringai (advisor), Paul Tirimba Machogu (advisor), Murimi Murimi Murage (advisor), Catherine Njeri Rugene (advisor), Nancy Wambui Kangethe (Chief of Staff, OSDP), George Theuri (advisor), Munene Gathondu Pius (private secretary), Eric Gichuhi Wachira (Deputy Chief of Staff), Margaret Winnie Muthoni Namusonge (advisor), Ngunjiri Wambugu (advisor), Richard Nzioki Muteti (advisor), Allan Waweru Mburu (advisor), Leonard Saningo Ngaluma (Secretary Administration), Jefwa Arnold Mkare (Secretary Administration), Rose Wangari Gakuo (Secretary, State Functions) and Mwongela Francis Mikwa (Secretary, Press Services).
Meanwhile, Gachagua has taken his fight against the impeachment to the courts.

Gachagua files petition in court to challenenge his impeachment
On Friday, October 18, the High Court in Nairobi issued conservatory orders blocking his replacement after the Senate upheld the National Assembly’s resolution to impeach him.
Justice Chacha Mwita issued the stay orders following a petition by Gachagua’s lawyers.
The orders will take effect until Thursday, October 24, when the matter is mentioned in court.
“Due to the issues raised in the petition and application, and the urgency demonstrated, a conservatory order is hereby issued staying the implementation of the resolution by the Senate upholding the impeachment charges against the petitioner, the Deputy President of Kenya, including the appointment of his replacement, until 24th October 2024 when the matter will be mentioned before the bench to be appointed by the Chief Justice, for appropriate orders and action,” the judge ruled.
