CS Kuria questions DP Rigathi Gachagua after turning down tea at State House amid fallout in government.

In a statement on Sunday, CS Kuria accused the DP of refusing to drink tea at the State House for fear of being poisoned.

This comes as allegations of a disconnect between Gachagua and his boss President William Ruto continue to swirl around.

The Public Service Cabinet Secretary asked the Deputy President how he expected other leaders, especially during the Cabinet Committee meetings, to feel safe at his Karen Residence.

He alleged that the DP may also harm those leaders who will be visiting his official residence.

The concern was part of 10 questions listed by the CS and directed at the DP. These questions entail scathing allegations which the DP is yet to respond to.

Moses Kuria further hinted that if Gachagua responded to the questions, he would consider joining him as part of his movement.

“Answer these 10 questions Deputy President and if you convince me, I will follow you. We leave government and lead our people to the opposition as you very much desire,” he posed.

Further, the CS accused the DP of demanding Ksh10 billion from the President to ‘fix’ the Mt Kenya region. He questioned how the funds would have benefited the residents of Mt Kenya.

“When the cost of living was high and there was discontent on the ground, you went to the President and demanded he gives you Ksh10 billion cash to go fix the ground in Mt Kenya,” the CS alleged.

Kuria revealed that Gachagua threw tantrums after President Ruto declined the request.

Furthermore, Kuria also questioned whether Gachagua could lead the Mt Kenya region owing to his recent remarks.

“You have lost the trust and friendship of 90% of elected and appointed leaders in Mt Kenya region. How can you lead them?” Kuria posed.

Another question posed by the CS was what the DP was doing while the President was carrying out his duties and roles. He emphasized that other leaders and the President were working throughout the day while he was out politicking.

“The President works 24 by 7 alone yet you are so idle that you spend the entire day politicking or filling out tender forms. I wonder how you can run a government yet you know absolutely nothing of how government operates,” he remarked.

Additionally, Kuria wondered what plan the DP had for the region where he enjoys 100 percent of the support and asked Gachagua if he would vie for the presidency in 2027.

He enquired about the DP’s game plan, slogan and development plan for the Mt Kenya region.

In the document, Kuria accused the DP of pressuring President William Ruto to fire him. He also accused Gachagua of having him transferred from the Ministry of Trade and Investments to his current ministry.

The CS exposed that before the 2022 General Elections Gachagua refused to join a party allied to Mt Kenya before merging with Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Kuria noted that currently, the DP was asking the leaders to leave the government and join his party.
