Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga has been elected as a member of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) executive committee.

According to a statement shared by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Tuesday, September 9, Ingonga has been unanimously elected as a Supernumerary Member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Prosecutors.

The election took place on September 9, 2025, during the IAP’s 30th Annual Conference and General Meeting in Singapore, marking a significant milestone for Kenya’s prosecutorial leadership on the global stage.

This achievement follows Mr. Ingonga’s earlier success when he was elected President of the Africa Association of Prosecutors (APA) during the Association’s 17th Annual Conference and General Meeting in Marrakesh, Morocco, in July 2024.

He also led the successful hosting of the 23rd Commonwealth Heads of Prosecuting Agencies Conference (CHOPAC) in Mombasa in June 2025.

The ODPP described the election as a significant milestone for Kenya and Africa. It reinforces Africa’s expanding influence in shaping international prosecutorial discourse and highlights Kenya’s steadfast commitment to active participation in global justice initiatives.

According to the statement, this development will provide a unique platform for enhancing cooperation, addressing emerging challenges, and strengthening prosecutorial standards across different jurisdictions.

In his remarks following the election, DPP Ingonga expressed humility about the recognition and responsibilities of the position.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions expressed its appreciation to the International Association of Prosecutors for its confidence in Mr. Ingonga’s leadership and reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to upholding the rule of law, promoting international collaboration, and advancing prosecutorial excellence.

The International Association of Prosecutors is the world’s premier non-governmental and non-political organization representing the global prosecutorial community.

As the only worldwide network of its kind, the IAP encompasses more than 170 organizational members, including prosecutorial associations, prosecution authorities, and crime prevention agencies worldwide.

Through its organizational and individual membership, the organization represents an extensive network of over 250,000 prosecutors in more than 175 countries and regions worldwide.
