EACC officers raid Laikipia Speaker's home, office over alleged forgery of academic papers
Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) camped at the Laikipia County Assembly for the better part of Tuesday to investigate Speaker Lantano Nabaala over claims of forging his academic papers.
The detectives raided the Speaker’s official residence in Muthaiga in the morning before visiting his office at the Assembly, where they grilled him for hours.
Speaking to Citizen Digital on phone, EACC Central Region boss Japheth Baithalu said that the purpose of the grilling was to gather evidence to substantiate the allegations.

The commission has promised to issue an official statement regarding the nature of the investigations.
For the past year, the Speaker has been battling allegations of acquiring his job using fake academic papers. This led to a section of MCAs writing to the anti-graft agency, calling for a probe over his academic papers.
Nabaala assumed office following his win in a second round of voting by the MCAs in September 2022.
The Speaker trounced eight other aspirants by acquiring 14 out of 21 votes.
