EACC recovers 17-acre Karura Forest land worth Ksh 2.8 billion
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on October 28, 2025 updated the public on its historical recovery of 17 acres of land in Karura Forest worth 2.8 billion shillings. The parcel of land had been in dispute since 2007.
Led by EACC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Abdi Ahmed Mohamud, the Commission visited the recovered parcel. The delegation was received by the Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests, Ms. Beatrice Mbula, alongside senior officials from the Kenya Forest Service.

“The land, measuring 7.11 hectares was fraudulently acquired in 1997 from the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and the Kenya Technical Trainers College (KTTC) by brokers who later sold it to unsuspecting investors. In 2007, the investors moved to court after discovering that the land was public property,” reads a post by EACC on X.
EACC has officially repossessed the property, with approximately 16 acres reverting to the Kenya Forest Service and about one acre to the Kenya Technical Trainers College.
Senior Kenya Forest Services officials present during the visit included Mr. Evans Kegode, Manager of Forest Survey and Information Management, and Mr. Wilson Leboo, Deputy Commandant.
The recovery of the Karura Forest land adds to EACC’s growing list of successful restitution cases, reinforcing its mandate to reclaim public property lost through fraud, corruption, and illegal acquisition.
