Edwin Sifuna suspends Linda Mwananchi tour in Mombasa
Nairobi County Senator has announced that he and his team will be suspending the scheduled Linda Mwanachi Tour that has been scheduled for Mombasa County.
This was after the request of the Muslim elders to purposely observe the Ramadan Celebrations, which began on February 18, stretching all the way to March 18.
The announcement was made on Saturday, February 21, in Kakamega County, where Sifuna and his team led the caucus during a rally held at Amalemba Grounds together with Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, Siaya County Governor James Orengo, and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi
“We as the Linda Mwananchi group, we will traverse the whole country; however, our muslim brothers have asked us to put a slight break on the tour scheduled for Mombasa, so as to observe the holy month of Ramadan”, stated Sifuna.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party faction tour’s most recent stop was on February 15, this year, in Kitengela, Kajiado County, following its official launch on February 8, 2026, with earlier events having been held in Ugunja and Busia counties.
The Coast Region has a significant Muslim population, and conducting large-scale political rallies with loud music and daytime activities could disrupt those observing the fast.
Ramadan involves daytime fasting and evening Taraweeh prayers, which can significantly impact crowd attendance and the overall energy of daytime political engagements and caravan-style tours.
This also comes against the backdrop of the violence that has been experienced in the rallies, with clashes between police and opposing parties across multiple Kenyan counties.
At the Kitengela rally on February 15, one person died from police gunshots as revealed by the autopsy reports released on February 21, identified as Vincent Ayomo.
