Four brothers in Kericho County are counting losses after their property sprawling over 45 acres was destroyed by their sisters.
In statements to the media on Thursday, three of the brothers accused their sisters and a second brother of hiring goons to carry out the devastation destruction.
According to Richard Sang, the four had planted exotic trees, nappier grass, and tea on the property, all of which had now been cut down. It is estimated that millions of shillings have been lost.
He further noted that some of them had been forced to sell their livestock after the animal feed plantation was destroyed.

“45 acres of tea, nappier grass and trees (exotic and indigenous) have been destroyed. My brothers are being forced to sell cows because grazing areas have been plowed by my sisters,” Richard told the press.
“We have reported severally but the (authorities) have just been coming to look at the destruction then they just turn back. We are left wondering what is wrong. We have reported at Chepsir Police Station and no action has been taken.”
Kenneth Sang corroborated the claims and called on the State to investigate the matter after initial reports filed at Chepsir Police Station bore no fruit.

He further revealed that their siblings, who had received their share of the land, were dissatisfied with the allocations and called for the exercise to be carried out afresh.
“We ask the government and Tea Board to visit the land and see the extent of destruction. The issue is that we are still in court but our sisters and brothers came and began destroying the crops,” Kenneth added.
“Our father had subdivided the land to us over 20 years ago but they insisted that the subdivision should be carried out afresh.”
Gilbert Sang, on the other hand, argued that the plantation was their source of income and now it was in jeopardy.
“We planted the plants it was our source of income but our brother and sisters are behind this destruction. They have their parcels but we have no idea why they are destroying this,” he told the press.
The value of the total loss is still unclear as investigations into the incident gather steam.
