A family of four was buried alive on Monday night after their home was swept away by a mudslide in Torokiat Village in Narok County.

According to reports, the mudslide is said to have occurred following heavy rainfall experienced overnight in the region.

Unfortunately, at the time, the whole family was at home.

The family of four, a father aged 35 years, his wife aged 24 years and two children aged 5 and 3 respectively lost their lives in the tragedy.

‘It was reported by members of the public that due to heavy rain throughout the night, mudslides occurred at the unknown time of the night and caused death to 4 residents members of the same family at Torokiat Market,” a police report capturing the incident in detail read.

As per the reports, efforts to recover the bodies from the rubble were still ongoing.

Images captured from the scene depicted the house built on a slope having slipped down the valley.

The house also appeared to be a shell of its former self with different materials used to construct it having scattered as a result of the damage.
