A family in Embu was left in shock after their missing kin was found in a mortuary a few hours after being reported missing.

The 23-year-old fourth-year IT student at the Embu National Polytechnic, was found dead at the Embu Level Five Mortuary on February 7, 2024.

Narrating the ordeal, her father stated that he received a call from the hospital informing him that his daughter had been admitted to the institution, prompting him to rush and confirm if it was indeed his missing child.

“I was told she had been brought to the hospital a few minutes ago with a head injury but passed away five minutes after admission,” her father stated.

However, he arrived minutes after the girl had passed away and could not be part of her last moments.

After confirming the body, he received yet another call while at the scene, asking him to present himself at the Embu Police Station.

He went to the station only to be informed that her daughter had been in the company of the secondary school deputy principal before she passed away.

“I responded to the caller, I didn’t even know who he was, only to be told that Gatundu Secondary School Deputy Principal was with my daughter before she died,” her father lamented.

The deceased was found dead with a visible mark on her head indicating an injury, further raising eyebrows.

An autopsy conducted on the body revealed that she died of cardiac arrest as a result of trauma on the head caused by a blunt object.

“Even if my daughter refused to give you her number, why couldn’t you just call me the same way you did when you wanted to tell me that she is gone,” her mother recalled.

To compound the case, the whereabouts of the individuals who admitted the girl to the hospital are still unknown.

Meanwhile, the family is calling for investigations and justice into the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death.
