Ferdinand Omanyala hit back at the ministry of sports official, PS Joe Okudo over missing visa information ahead of the 2022 World Championships, USA.

100M sprinter, Ferdinand Omanyala has dismissed claims by Sports Principal Secretary Joe Okudo, in the ongoing visa controversy.

The Sports PS claimed that problems occurred because Omanyala’s application lacked certain details.

The PS stated that the Ministry stepped in after Athletics Kenya requested help to resolve the visa glitch.

“All athletes got their visas except Omanyala because some information was not disclosed in his application, which had nothing to do with AK. Omanyala is best placed to answer that,” Okudo told Nation

However, speaking to the local media Omanyala distanced himself from any blame games, noting that he had not been informed about any incomplete information required in his visa application.

Ferdinand Omanyala hit out at sports official arguing that if that was the case, the embassy would have informed him about the issue earlier.

“If that was the case, the American embassy would have highlighted the issue in advance,” he stated.

Omanyala bowed out of the World Championships after he emerged fifth in the semi-finals of the 100 metres race.

This is after arriving hours to the event on Friday, July 15, due to the visa delays.

He however pointed out that he would divert all his energy toward the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the United Kingdom.

“Every challenge you face today makes you stronger tomorrow. The challenge of life is intended to make you better, not bitter. Persistence and resilience only come from having been given the chance to work through difficult problems. No matter how much falls on us, we keep moving,” Omanyala stated.
