Two foreigners arrested with explosives along the Kenyan border with Tanzania after a tip from the public.

Two foreigners have been arrested and explosives used for gold exploration with a street value of Ksh.9 million seized along the border of Kenya and Tanzania.

According to Migori County Police Commander Francis Nguli, a tip from the public resulted in the arrest of the individuals and the discovery of the explosives.

The accused were using Probox to transfer the explosives to an unidentified location when the police apprehended them.

He claimed that the explosives were being smuggled into the nation from Tanzania illegally adding that the suspects lacked the necessary travel documents that allow them to be in the country legally.

The county police commander said the two suspects are in police custody waiting for further investigation and arraignment.

Mr. Nguli praised the people for alerting the security guards, who were also able to act quickly, about the incident.

He said that in order to halt illegal commerce along Kenya’s and Tanzania’s borders, the police will continue to collaborate closely with the general public.
